TEST You'll do two tests. One, a test check for $1.00 to ensure the terminal operates before taking it to the store. The system will not debit a 1.00 sale so you can use your own checks for this.

The second is running a demo sale at the store showing the merchant how to use it. Use the import customer feature on the merchant's page and import the demo customer using A1234567 for the license and CA for the state. Run a sale for about 1000.00. Follow the prompts and do all the steps including printing the ARC agreement. The only thing you won't do is send any of the documents to GCS. The system will automatically void this sale out.

Indication Remedy
LOST COM W HOST, NO ENQ, NO LINE It is probably an issue with the phone line. These readers are very sensitive to the signal being strong. If there are any devices connected to the same line such as fax machines or computers they need to be completely disconnected. That will normally fix those type errors. Once corrected press CLEAR. The terminal will say RETRY 1=Yes 2=No. Press 1.
SERIAL NOT FOUND The wrong merchant number was entered for the serial number. Start over and make sure the correct merchant number is entered for the serial number.
APP NOT FOUND The wrong application name was entered (GCS101). Start over and make sure it is correct.
APP CORRUPTED This is usually due to noisy phone lines. The application was not cleanly loaded. You will have to start over. Insure there are no other devices on the same line. Even if they are not running disconnect everything else.
PRINTER PRINTS GARBAGE The printer should be turned off and back on. If that does not correct it then the printer is not configured to talk to the terminal correctly. There is no way to fix that except through the printer manufacturer.
